MIPIM 2024: Paris Region, a sustainable, innovative, inspiring and Olympic destination

MIPIM 2024: Paris Region, a sustainable, innovative, inspiring and Olympic destination

From March 12 to 15, Choose Paris Region organized the participation of 31 partners, including 21 co-exhibitors, at MIPIM 2024 with the central theme "Ready to Impact".

The Grand Paris pavilion designed by Choose Paris Region was the focal point for 27% of the show's attendees. This once again demonstrated Paris Region's vitality, in phase with preparations for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Against the backdrop of the opening of the new Grand Paris Express transportation lines and the delivery of structures built specifically for the Games, all the partners presented 125 major real estate opportunities.

The Grand Paris Pavilion at MIPIM 2024 embodied our collective vision of sustainable, innovative urban development, where key Paris Region real estate stakeholders showcased their plans for the future. Affirming our commitment to “Doing better with less”, this year, with the impetus of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the pavilion took on a new scope. The innovative tools we make available to public stakeholders and investors make this a platform that aims to create connections and highlight our region as both a sustainable and attractive territory.

- Alexandra Dublanche, Vice-President of Paris Region and Chairwoman of Choose Paris Region.

Opportunities and strategic partnerships

The European real estate sector has been in crisis since 2023. Nevertheless, the initiatives presented at MIPIM highlighted significant investments in cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, healthcare, mobility, energy and agro-technology. These projects reinforce the region's attractiveness on the international stage.

The sustainable and inclusive legacy of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games represented much more than a world-class sporting event: they offered a unique opportunity to shape a lasting, positive legacy for the future of Paris Region and France. With an estimated media reach of 4 billion viewers and 26,000 journalists expected to attend, these Games have provided an exceptional showcase for the promotion of new territories, which will become the new face of Paris on the international stage. In addition to emblematic intramural venues such as the Olympic and Paralympic Village in Saint-Denis, other areas such as Saint-Quentin en Yvelines, the Plateau de Saclay, and the Vaires-sur-Marne water sports center were highlighted. The existing infrastructure will be improved and transformed for the long-term benefit of local residents, with projects such as the conversion of the Olympic Village into a new sustainable district of housing, green spaces and public services. Similarly, innovative sports facilities, such as the Olympic Aquatics Center and the Arena at Porte de la Chapelle, will be reused for the well-being and development of local communities after the Games.

The pavilion reflects this enduring legacy

The pavilion's approach was sober, innovative and respectful of the environment. Over 2/3 of the previous edition's stand was reused, with 100% French materials, and all the carpeting was recycled.

Conferences and networking at the heart of the Grand Paris Pavilion

The 50 conferences, which brought together a total of 150 speakers, allowed for the discussion of key themes such as the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the development of the Grand Paris Express, the emergence of new urban centralities, and the consequences of the real estate crisis. In spite of this context, professionals remain resilient and are aware of the need to take a long-term approach to building the city of the future. Many hope that this cycle will be reversed from 2026 / 2027 onwards.
