Paris 2024

Paris Olympics and Paralympics 2024

The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games have come and gone. The flame lives on in our minds and through the legacy of these 33rd Olympic Games. At a time when we need to take stock and learn from this experience, it's important to remember a few key points to keep us on course and remind ourselves that it's not over yet. Quite the contrary…

Paris 2024 was designed and co-constructed to celebrate sports, its values and encourage its practice. The Games, the most sustainable in history, were also designed to accelerate and promote urban, technological and sustainable transformations, and to offer a unique experience. Our collective goal was to show as many people as possible that we are a welcoming, inspiring, innovative, sustainable and forward-looking destination.

Organizing the Games was therefore a memorable chapter in our history. If the Games were grandiose, it was not only thanks to the spectacle offered by the sporting events, it was also thanks to the abilities of this Paris 2024 team!

The welcome extended to delegations and visitors, the many international investments made on this occasion, the commitment of local authorities, and first and foremost that of Paris Region, allowed us to rise to this great challenge. The Olympics were an exceptional opportunity to demonstrate everyone's commitment to our region's development, and to showcase its identity, its history, its assets and its future.

This summer, over 4 million visitors discovered or rediscovered Paris Region as they'd never seen it before, and 3 billion television viewers around the world admired Paris Region in all its dimensions.

The quality of our hospitality reached an unprecedented level of satisfaction, thanks not only to the mobilization of tourism professionals, but also to the provision of efficient transportation infrastructures and exceptional Olympic venues. This inspiring, innovative and responsible vision is reflected in major investments in the Games. With over 240 million euros earmarked for the construction and renovation of a wide range of infrastructures, Paris Region is fully committed to this major international sporting event. This makes Paris Region the second-largest public funder after the French government.

However, Paris Region's commitment is not merely financial; it is an investment in the future of the Region and a promise to deliver an unforgettable experience. The world is invited to witness not just a sporting event, but a celebration of the values that define the essence of the Paris Region - a place where dreams converge, and where excellence and creativity can flourish. With 18 sports represented next summer in a dozen of sites in Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Yvelines and Seine-et-Marne, Paris Region will also be in the spotlight, beyond the borders of Paris-intra muros.

Responsibility is at the heart of Paris Region's identity and hosting the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games is a testament to this commitment. The Paris Region recognizes the importance of sustainable practices and environmental awareness, integrating them into event planning and execution. From environmentally friendly infrastructure to initiatives to promote social responsibility, Paris Region aims to set new standards in hosting responsible events, leaving a lasting positive impact on the local community and global audience. In particular, by promoting the accessibility and inclusion of disabled people, in sports of course, but also in transport, tourism, training and so on.

It's also a message of confidence and optimism sent to the whole world, on which the Paris Region will be able to capitalize in the long term.
