Valpas Expands to Paris Region: The Future of Environmental Responsible Hospitality is Here

Committed to innovation and sustainability, Paris Region has become a global hub for groundbreaking hospitality solutions. Valpas is revolutionizing the travel experience with its unique, proactive technology that ensures safe, sustainable, and bed-bug-free stays for hotel guests. Unlike traditional reactive methods, Valpas prevents infestations before they occur while empowering hotels to showcase their commitment to guest safety and environmental responsibility through real-time certification.

Founded in Helsinki, Finland, Valpas has selected Paris Region for its first international office to target both the Parisian and French markets. Building on their rapid growth in Paris Region, we sat down with Valpas Co-founder and CEO, Martim Gois, to discuss their mission to redefine hospitality standards, the Region’s leadership in sustainability, and how Paris Region’s world-class ecosystem has supported their expansion.

Can you tell us a bit more about Valpas and your mission?

Martim Gois: Valpas was born from a personal experience with bed bugs, revealing the lack of effective, proactive solutions for both travelers and hoteliers. Our mission is to make safe, sustainable, and worry-free stays, the norm not the exception. Valpas provides a proactive bed bug prevention solution using smart bed legs that capture bed bugs before they spread. These bed legs are connected to an app that notifies hotel staff when a bed bug is detected and needs to be removed. By capturing the first bed bug, we prevent infestations before they start and, by default, eliminate the need for pesticide treatments. This technology is paired with a digital certification that assures guests their room is safe, clean, and pesticide-free—enhancing trust and setting a new standard in hospitality.

Why did you choose Paris and its Region to expand your business?

Martim Gois: Paris Region are global leaders in hospitality, innovation, and sustainability, making it a natural choice for Valpas. As the world’s most popular travel destination, welcoming around 50 million travelers annually, it faces challenges like bed bugs, which spread unknowingly through travel. This highlights the need for preventive, sustainable solutions like Valpas, ensuring hotels can protect their guests and reputations. Paris Region’s commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with our mission to set new industry standards.

How does the Valpas platform work, and what makes it unique?

Martim Gois: Valpas answers traveler fears and is the only platform that guarantees safe, sustainable, and bed bug-free stays. Travelers recognize Valpas-certified hotels from a reliable digital certification identifiable on hotel websites and travel platforms, backed by seamless in-room technology that ensures the room you check in is clean and stops any bed bug transmissions. Traditional pesticide and pest control technologies are becoming obsolete. Valpas is setting a new standard for safe and sustainable technology with Paris Region showing the path to the rest of the world.

How has been part of Paris Region’s ecosystem helped Valpas grow?

Martim Gois: While our collaboration with Choose Paris Region is just beginning, having their support is already promising. Their network and ability to connect us with key stakeholders in the hospitality industry are invaluable for accelerating our growth. We’re confident that this partnership will help us deepen our footprint in the Region and strengthen relationships with forward-thinking hotels that prioritize guest safety and sustainability.

How is Valpas contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible hospitality industry? What are your future goals in Paris Region and beyond?

Martim Gois: Today, over 100 hotels in Paris Region and 300 globally trust Valpas. Our goal is to make Paris the world’s first destination where hotels are both bed bug-safe and pesticide-free. Beyond Paris, we aim to ensure that wherever people travel, they can stay in a safe, sustainable Valpas member hotel.

Last but not least, can you describe Paris Region in 3 words?

Martim Gois: Elegant. Vibrant. Iconic.
